A time to heal

Please remember, it is what you are that heals, not what you know.  –  Carl Jung

When I hear that someone is in pain or is stuck in a rut, I am always eager to help. I love being able to put the pieces of the puzzle together and help find a clearer path for others.  The problem is, not everyone is ready for healing or change, even when they say they are.

I am learning over time to accept ‘what is.’  To be patient and find compassion for those who perhaps are not ready for change, or may never be.

Nature reminds me all the time there are natural gentle healings.  Nature is my teacher.  It reminds me to open my heart and listen.  Stars hold the dark, by being light.  Rain nourishes the dry earth.  The wind clears the sky of any clouds. Nature is always moving and changing naturally.

It reminds me that sometimes, I don’t need to do or say anything. I just need to listen, be present, and to accept who is by my side, without judgement.  It reminds me there is no need to be afraid. There is no need to fix the darkness in others, but rather be the light and acceptance around them, which reminds them of their light, allowing them to heal naturally.

  1. Good one! So true. Every word.Sometimes it is hard not to jump in when I know (think) I can help. Sometimes people just aren’t ready. Dammit! Beautiful post, Karen, and perfect timing for me. It is so much easier for me to be in that place professionally, than when seeing a friend suffer.

  2. This is so true Karen. Sometimes I feel that I could be able to help a soul in need, where after I find out, that they were not ready to receive the help, why they just continue to complain instead of listening to their inner voice.

    1. I understand Irene and it happens to us all. I think this is where we can try a different approach. To accept that is okay that they cannot move forward and to be present with ‘what is.’ It has really helped me. Thankyou.

  3. Such great advice, and applicable to so many situations in life. Sometimes I think the hardest thing is just to listen…to just be there. And then there are moments that perhaps it is best to just give space. Wish you a great week Karen.

    1. I agree Randall, I find it very hard not to give advice! Sometimes I have to force my mouth to close ha. Still you are right, listening and giving space is exactly what we all need at times. I wish a great week too. 🙂

  4. Over and over and over I have quit smoking but I keep going back to it – argh! Big rut that makes me feel so ghastly about myself. My new quit date is Aug. 31st and I am getting excited about it! Thanks for your wonderfully encouraging posts.

  5. Nature is such a great guide for us to learn patience. After all, patience is simply accepting what is.💛
This is never easy when we want the best for others and know where the answer lies. You can lead a horse to water …. 😉

    1. We can lead a horse to water Val, and that’s about as far as it goes sometimes! I agree with you. I think when we have experienced freedom, then it is very hard not to want others to feel the same. Thankyou.

  6. I too feel Karen that the lesson that nature is always moving and changing naturally is a hard one to learn when it comes to our relating to one another, and yet it lies at the very heart of all change. Wonderful post.

  7. Right on time! So much of our culture, my culture, especially the one inside my head, says: FIX IT! Make it better! But being the light has been coming to me. Being the light is much healthier for me and for others.

  8. I do make the mistake of jumping in sometimes when people do not actually want help. And then it makes the situation worse as it can make them feel low about themselves. So I am TRYING to do what you say and sometimes just sit and listen.
