Empty your mind

Everything we ever needed to know is waiting in the space between our thoughts – Simon BoylanΒ

The function of a room,
Is in its emptiness.
A room that is cluttered,
Has less space to live.
So it is with the Dao.

I think at times, we create busy minds and busy lives to avoid feeling.

Let’s create space in our day and learn to sit in the silence and our pain.Β  Feeling what it is that needs to arise, and letting go of what no longer serves us.

  1. My mind is so busy, I’m up at 5:30 am sitting in the dark reading this and awaiting the sunrise. I’m not sure if that’s a good or a bad thing. A mix of the two I think. I need sleep but I also need time alone–time to be quiet–time to be selfish and alone. Time to absorb something. What? Maybe your words. Thanks.

    1. I find stillness early in the morning without distractions, energizes me and clears my head for the day. It’s never easy to get up and be still, it’s always a practice! Try it and see how you feel. πŸ™‚

  2. I love the Simon Boylan quote! That’s in between our thoughts we meditate, sit in complete silence with an empty canvas ready to be filled from the deep inside πŸ™‚

  3. Stillness and silence. Ahhhhh….well, bird songs can be there. πŸ™‚

    1. Ha ha you forget on your hikes and being amongst the most beautiful parts of nature in the world, you are in stillness always, it’s just training your mind to connect to it. πŸ™‚

  4. I am one who will always seek out the quiet. Alone. No distractions, music, voices. But it took years to be comfortable in that space. Now I crave it like air. So my (unsolicited) advice to others who are afraid to ‘go there’ is to be brave. And patient. Believe me, it has much to recommend it.

  5. So true post Karen πŸ˜€
My experience is the same with people, who always either looks at the TV or listen to a radio etc. They seem to be scared for the stillness and this is so necessary to do too, to release all as no longer serve us.
