Question your mind

“He who has a why to live for, can bear almost any how.”   Friedrich Nietzche

If my thoughts are leading me in the wrong direction, then I have forgotten who is in control.

When I learned to become mindful and aware of my thoughts, I realized I could change the way I felt about any situation by changing the pathway of my thoughts.

It is a practice, but I understand that when a new thought comes in, I can either lead that thought into a familiar dialogue or story, or I can lead that thought into a new direction with a new energy.  It’s always my choice and with practice, I can make intuitive decisions that are right for my soul’s journey.

Our old patterns of dialogue are so familiar to our minds that we become comfortable with its predictable outcomes, but that’s not how we fulfill our dreams or step into the unknown and discover we are more.

Next time you are in a stressful situation become aware of your thoughts.  What  patterns are you allowing in again and again?  Can you take these thoughts and move them in a new direction with a positive focus? My questions always change my focus and lead my thoughts into a new direction.

  1. A great reminder Karen. This line is powerful –
“If my thoughts are leading me in the wrong direction, then I have forgotten who is in control.” 🌸

  2. Karen, a great post and advice. But, quite difficult for most. What habits we allow to take hold truly do hold us. Now, are these habits that set our direction of vice or virtue?
There are two dogs fighting in every person’s soul. One is good the other evil. The one we feed the most wins.-from a sage native American.

  3. If only we might take that moment when the pressure hits. Makes me think of these few lines of an Octavio Paz poem:

I find myself in the middle of an eye,
watching myself in its blank stare.

    The moment scatters. Motionless,
I stay and go: I am a pause.

    Aloha, Karen.
